A WARM WELCOME
Epirus - a romantically wild region in the northwestern part of Greece.
Epirus is a composition of turquoise blue waters and endless beaches, high mountains, unique villages with ancient history all embedded in a lush green and fruitful landscape. Whoever looks for the original true Hellas is exactly at the right place.
Epirus - that’s Greece from its most diverse side.
Epirus located at the northwestern edge of Greece, stretches from Pindus mountains to the Ionian Sea. This region is divided into four areas: Ioannina, Thesprotia, Preveza and Arta.
Ioannina is the capital of Epirus and is wonderfully located on the shores of Lake Pamvotis. In the background of the city are the mountains of Zagorochoria displaying a romantically natural setting.
Along the coast between Plataria via Sivota, Parga and until you reach Preveza there are numerous beaches as well as small bays inviting you to swim or snorkel.
As soon as you leave the coast region you step into the untouched nature. There are numerous never-ending olive groves, lemon and orange trees, and many spices and herbs. On a walking tour into the heartland, you pass many original Greek villages, and many other interesting things are yours to discover.
The Zagorian villages will equally be fascinating to the hikers. The way villages and stone houses are integrated into the landscape is unique and interesting. The Vikos Gorge or the Drakolimni Lake are hiking destinations you will never forget.
The realm of the Gods also left its traces in Epirus. Many ancient or historical sites can still be visited today. Those really worth mentioning are the Oracle of the Dead at the Acheron, the Oracle Dodoni, the excavations of the city of Kassiopi and the city Nikopolis near Preveza.
Situated close to the mainland are some islands. Starting from Parga you can explore Korfu in a one day trip. But Paxos and Antipaxos are also inviting you with their unblemished character. Near the village of Sivota are several small uninhabited islands off the coast that are waiting to be discovered.
In the cities of Preveza, Igoumenitsa and Ioannina there are many shops and streets where you can buy anything your heart desires. Ioannina is widely known for its silver metal craft products. The small picturesque town of Parga is especially inviting you during summertime to take time and enjoy strolling through the many small alleys.
Ideal conditions are found at Metzovo for winter sports like skiing and snowboarding. An adventurer’s heart can certainly be awakened on a wild rafting trip in the rivers of Epirus.
